More About the Brand
Quintero Cuban cigars is one of the few Habanos brands that was not born in Cuba’s capital city Havana. Instead, founder Augustin Quintero and his four brothers chose to set up shop in the south coast city of Cienfuegos, known as the “Pearl of the South”. Quintero and his four brothers opened this small cigar factory in 1924 where they began producing handmade cigars to sell to the public.
The brand quickly became popular in both Cuba and abroad, leading to the Quintero brothers creating a variety of different sized cigars. Their growth in popularity lead to them needing more space to prepare the cigars and keep up with the demand. By the 1940’s they had acquired a much larger rolling factory in Havana where they started using prime tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. The brand only got bigger after this and was particularly popular in Spain.
Although not usually found in Cuban cigars, the Quintero blend is noted for having a herbal flavour with a sweet aftertaste. This means they benefit from several months of aging before smoking them. All the tobaccos selected for Quintero’s short filler blend come from Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta regions. All Quinteros are not machine made but instead made using the Tripa Corta, Totalmente a Mano – short filler, totally hand made – technique. Try the Quintero Tubulares for a luxury smoking experience.
