Record-Breaking Humidor Auction of 2025 Habanos Festival

The 2025 Habanos Festival came to a spectacular close. This remarkable humidor auction stunned cigar enthusiasts from around the globe. 

The highlight of the evening was the sale of a stunning Cohiba Behike humidor, which fetched nearly €5 million. Thus, it set a new record for the most expensive humidor ever sold.

Held at the PabExpo Center in Havana, the auction was part of the festival’s grand gala dinner. It was attended by over 1,400 guests, marking an unforgettable conclusion to the annual celebration of Cuban cigars.

A Night of Luxury and Craftsmanship

The auction, which saw the sale of 10 stunning lots, raised a remarkable €16.4 million ($17 million) in total. Six of the lots sold for over €1 million each.

The evening began with a wave of anticipation as guests arrived to a stunning display of craftsmanship and luxury. The venue was decorated in fine style, and attendees were treated to a multi-course dinner paired with an exclusive lineup of cigars. 

The evening featured a dynamic entertainment program with musical performances, including:

  • A tribute to Queen, which had the crowd dancing and singing along.
  • Cohiba BHK cigars introduced to guests throughout the night, each offering a taste of excellence that left attendees in awe.

As the night progressed, the highly anticipated humidor auction took center stage. Bidders eagerly competed for some of the most exquisite, handcrafted humidors in the world. 

Record-Breaking Cohiba BHK Humidor

The final lot of the evening, the star of the auction, was a massive, one-of-a-kind Behike humidor by Cohiba. Crafted with intricate mother-of-pearl inlays and Swarovski crystals, the humidor was a true masterpiece. 

Inside, it contained an incredible collection of cigars, including 100 of each of the four sizes: 

As the bidding heated up, the price of the humidor quickly soared past €3 million. It eventually sold for €4.6 million—breaking the previous record of €4.5 million. 

Crowning Achievements

While the Behike brand’s humidor stole the spotlight, it wasn’t the only showstopper of the evening. The Montecristo collection also made waves, with their humidor selling for an astonishing €1.9 million.

Next up, the Romeo y Julieta brand followed suit, with their humidor fetching an impressive €1.8 million, further proving the brand's dominance in the luxury cigar market.

Meanwhile, H. Upmann, known for its rich history, saw their humidor go for €900,000. The Hoyo de Monterrey made history by being the first to hit the one-million-euro milestone, ultimately closing at €1.7 million. 

Not far behind, Partagás also made a notable appearance, with their humidor raising €1.6 million at the auction.

Each lot was meticulously designed to honor its respective brand. They all had intricate carvings and luxurious materials that made them both functional and collectible. 

Exciting Surprises

The auction also included surprise lots which added an element of excitement to the evening. The Punch made its mark with a humidor that left auction-goers in awe, reaching an impressive final bid. 

Meanwhile, the Juan López added its own charm to the evening, with their humidor commanding a hefty price, a true testament to its premium craftsmanship. 

On the other hand, La Gloria Cubana drew significant attention as well, with their humidor securing a competitive bid that reflected the brand’s rich legacy and allure in the cigar world.

The three surprise lots collectively raised over €600,000. They highlighted the unpredictable nature of the auction and the enthusiasm surrounding these rare collectibles.

Supporting Cuban Healthcare

The money raised from the auction will go to support healthcare initiatives in Cuba, a cause that has been central to the Habanos Festival for many years. 

Habanos S.A., the organizer of the event, has long been committed to using the festival as a way to give back to the Cuban community, particularly in the field of healthcare.

Highlights of the healthcare initiatives funded by past auctions include:
